Windows Keyboard Shortcuts(Tricks)

Some windows multi-task requires a lot of hard work. But when you have some of the windows keyboard shortcuts, tasks become easier than we think. These tricks will help to save time. Here are some of the amazing windows keyboard shortcuts which you'll need ever in you daily work.



1. Show Desktop (Win Key + D)

This windows shortcut can come handy when you've lots of tab opened in browser and similarly in File Explorer, multitasking. But suddenly you remember that there are some stuff left to be completed. In that case, you hit the Win Key + D to show the desktop. Doing this you land over desktop where you can open that file and begin completing the task. 

2. Screenshot and save a file automatically (Win Key + PrtScr)

Before you used to hit that PrtScr button and then moving to any paint program to paste that screenshot and then save the file. But now, you don't need to do such a big task. Once you have a window, or any program you want to take screenshot, just hit Win Key + PrtScr and your screenshot will be automatically save to the Pictures folder. This can really save time. 

3. Quick Lockdown (Win Key + L)

You have too many kids in your home and you don't want your files, folders not to be viewed by anyone then this trick will help you. When you're leaving your computer for short period of time, in that case you can press Win Key + L which will lock the computer instantly. It will bring up the same lock screen which is seen when your computer is first booted. 

4. F2, F3, F4, F5, F6

F2:  It renames the selected item.
F3: Search for file or folder in the file explorer.
       Windows default search can not provide detailed result of the file. So here is an app called "Everything" which works as the search engine of the files, folder stored in your computer. F5: Refresh the active window

5. Open Settings (Win key + I)

Opening a setting in PC is easier with these two keys. Just press Win Key + I to open Settings.


6. Open File Explorer (Win Key + E)

If you have may tabs opened once. Similarly if you're watching your favorite movie on Youtube with Full Screen enabled and you don't want to exit that full screen. But you want to open your Local Disk D or E Drive. At that case, you press Win Key + E and you'll land over My Computer. And you can easily access you folder. 

7. Open Run Dialog Box (Win Key + R)

Pressing Win Key and R together will open a run dialog box. You can search anything from prefetch to regedit. 


8. Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc)

This is a quick handy process. Pressing those keys will open a task manager. So you don't need to hover your mouse to Taskbar to open Task Manager. 


9. Switch between opened tabs (Alt + Tab)

Many tabs opened can be little messy when moving to appropriate tab and then coming back to the same tab. So here comes an option so that you'll be able to switch between you opened tabs. Hit Alt + Tab button to switch between your all opened tabs.

10. Open Search Bar (Win Key + S)

Searching anything in Windows 10 is easier than that of Windows 8. In windows 10, search bar is right behind the Win Start Logo. There you can search inside the computer and from the web also through the Edge Browser. But In windows 8, here's the trick, Press Win Key + S key to open the search bar.

11. Search (Ctrl + F)

Whether you want to search any word in browsers like Chrome, Ctrl + F will help. Hitting Ctrl + F will open a search bar in the right corner of the browser. There you can search any character or word and the result is displayed highlight with yellow or any other color. The search bar will also open in other programs. 

12. Quick Backspace (Ctrl + Backspace)

You wrote a couple of sentence and you didn't like the layout or you want to edit that sentence. Hitting backspace will delete a single character but what if you want a whole word to be deleted to save time. Here is the trick. Press Ctrl + Backspace to delete the sentence word by word rather than letters by letters. This will also work if you want to move the corner from first word to sixth word, you can press Ctrl + left or right arrow button to move the cursor word by word.
